During the last few days, the hilly states of the country including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have witnessed snowfall activities along the higher reaches. A mainly light to moderate snowfall has occurred over the trio states.

As the Western Disturbance has moved away, presently northerly-northwesterly dry winds are prevailing over the region. Nights are becoming very cold as temperatures have dropped by 3 to 5° Celsius. These cold nights are expected to continue for another few days. Day too will remain cool and sunny, with chilly winds prevailing over most regions. Ground frost can also be seen at isolated places of Uttarakhand and southern parts of Himachal Pradesh.

These chilly conditions are for sure a problem for residents, but for tourists its anything but the best season to move towards hills. With the onset of winter season, the hills of North India become a special attraction due to the occurrence of snowfall over these places.

Sunny days are likely to continue for now, so the tourists can visit these places in the next few days. Weather over Mussoorie, Nainital, Dehradun and Kasauli will remain pleasant. However, temperatures might even sink to negative figures over a few places like Gulmarg, Srinagar, Pahalgam, Dalhousie, Shimla, Kullu and Manali leading to chilly weather conditions.
