Snow in Manali, Shimla, Srinagar, Nainital, rain in Delhi, Agra, Lucknow, Chandigarh on New Years Day

New Year is just around the corner and winter chill is only increasing its grip over the North Indian plains as well as the hills. Moreover, during the New Year period, snowfall will be seen in parts of the hills due to the Western Disturbance in the Western Himalayas and rains in the plains of North India on account of the induced Cyclonic Circulation.

The disturbing factor will be winds, which will be easterly in nature as the changeover has begun and will stay the same for four more days. This while may ease out the minimums, maximums due to cloudy conditions and rains may see a drop. Wind speed will bring in chill factor during the day and even at night due to which the feel like will be extremely cold.

Delhi: On New Year’s Day, Delhi may see some rains with minimums settling around 4-5 degrees. Maximums on the other hand will be around 15-16 degrees Celsius, however, strong winds will keep the weather chilly. Foggy conditions may also make an appearance

Lucknow: Lucknow is also expected to see some rains with minimum being around 4-5 degrees. Day temperatures will settle around 17 degrees and residents will feel the chill. Fog in the morning will be a sight and winds here as well will keep the weather chilly.

Chandigarh: Due to the city being in the foothills, Chandigarh is expected to see the minimums at around 3-4 degrees. Rainfall activity will play spoilsport to all plans.

Agra: For all those planning to take a road trip to see the Taj Mahal, fog in the morning will cause a little trouble wherein minimums will settle around 4-5 degrees. Maximums will be in the range of 15-17 degrees. Rains may be seen here as well.

Srinagar: Temperatures during the night in Srinagar have already settled above -5 degrees and will continue to be the same. A white New Year is on the cards for the hilly city of Srinagar.

Shimla: Sub zero temperatures may be seen in the capital city of Himachal Pradesh as well with fresh snow making an appearance.

Manali: The city of Manali will also see minimum below the freezing point and settle between -2 and -4 degrees. Snowfall is on the card here as well. Expect both day and night to be very cold.

Nainital: Nainital, the tourist hub of Uttarakhand will also see some snowfall activities with minimums settling close to 0 degree Celsius.
