Monsoon 2016 Forecast for Sep 30: Monsoon Rains in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Chennai

Southwest Monsoon was active over Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, South Bihar, most parts of northeastern states, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Tamil Nadu including Chennai and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Dry weather continues over northern hills and northwest plains.

In a span of 24 Hours, Chennai recorded 82 mm of rainfall, followed by Silchar 74 mm and Rewa 70 mm.

As of now, the countrywide cumulative rainfall deficiency continues to stand at 3%, where Northwest India was deficit by 5%, but Central India had above normal rains by 6%.

At present, the Southwest Monsoon withdrawal line is passing through Kupwara, Ludhiana, Phalodi and Jaisalmer.

During the next 24 hours, moderate rains are expected over Chhattisgarh, some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.

Scattered light with isolated moderate Monsoon rains are likely over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Vidarbha, North Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Tamil Nadu including Chennai and also over some parts of Northeast India.

Rest parts of the country will witness light rains barring the northern hills, northwest plains where dry weather conditions will persist.
