Rain in Chhattisgarh

Successive weather systems over the Bay of Bengal are travelling in the westerly direction and have been giving good rains in Chhattisgarh for the last many days now.

During the last 24 hours, the state has witnessed light rains with one or two moderate spells, wherein Pendra road recorded 17.8 mm rainfall, followed by Jagdalpur 11.6 mm, Durg 8 mm, and Raipur 2.7 mm rainfall, in a span of 24 hours, from 8:30 on Sunday.

Talking about the weather system, a Low-Pressure Area has developed over North and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal. In addition to this system, a Cyclonic Circulation is already over the central parts of Madhya Pradesh along with the Monsoon Trough passing via Chhattisgarh.

Due to these systems, light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells would continue in many parts of the state. These weather conditions are likely for the next two to three days. Places like Pendra road, Jagdalpur, Durg, Raipur, and Bilaspur would be the ones to witness rain.

The on and off rainfall activities would continue until September 6. Although rains may decrease September 7 onward, the weather would not become completely dry.

Since the second week of July, rain and thundershower activities have been going on in Chhattisgarh. The Monsoon so far has been good in the state due to which rainfall is surplus by 3% (+/- 19 is considered normal), as per the data from June 1 to September 1. With more showers coming up, the rainfall statistics is definitely going to get better.
