Since last many days, only a few parts of Gujarat have been receiving a good amount of rainfall activity. In particular, the southern parts of Gujarat have been witnessing light to moderate Monsoon showers. Whereas northern parts of the state have been reeling under mainly dry weather conditions since quite a long time now. Although several places such as Porbandar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surat, Baroda, and Rajkot have been observing good Monsoon rains.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Porbandar recorded heavy rainfall of 56 mm, followed by Amreli at 31 mm, Rajkot 27 mm, Kandla 18 mm, Bhuj 16.4 mm, Surat 8 mm, Ahmedabad 6.4 mm, Baroda 3 mm and Idar 2.6 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen over parts of Southwest Pakistan and adjoining Kutch region. Also, an active offshore trough is seen running from Konkan Coast up to Kerala Coast.

Therefore, due to these weather systems, light to moderate rains are possible over southern parts of Gujarat region during the next two to three days.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the weather conditions over northern parts of Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch region will continue to remain mainly dry.
