Temperatures in Delhi to sustain till next week

March 5, 2014 12:32 PM |

The weather in Delhi is becoming pleasant as the temperatures, both maximum and minimum, are on the rise. The spell of winter finally seems to be over and in the coming week the day temperature might rise up to 31°C as well.

Day and night temperatures observed a rise in the last couple of days but cold northerly winds are keeping the nights pleasant. The day temperature in Delhi was recorded at 26.2°C on Tuesday, while today the morning minimum recorded 13.8°C. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the weather in Delhi will maintain for the next one week until a fresh Western Disturbance starts affecting the weather in North India from the 11th of March. The Western Disturbance is expected to bring rain and snow over the hills of Jammu & Kashmir. Some light rain is likely in the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, extending up to west Uttar Pradesh.

As has been reiterated by Skymet's Meteorology Division in India, the maximum temperature settles in the range of 28-29°C on an average in the month of March, while the average minimum temperature in Delhi remains around 14-15°C.

Weather in North India

Winter is receding from the northern plains with days becoming brighter and day temperatures remaining in the mid-twenties. The cold and chilly nights are now becoming pleasant with minimums in the teens. In Patiala and Chandigarh, night temperatures have risen to record 14°C and 13.2°C respectively. In Amritsar, the minimum rose from 10.8°C on Tuesday to 12.6°C, today morning. Similarly, in Ludhiana the minimum rose from 11°C to 13.5°C in one day. Though the temperatures are on the rise, this jump of almost 2 degrees in just 24 hours is not normal. Clouding in the plains of Punjab and Haryana functioned as an additional element to record minimums 2 to 3 degrees above normal.
