February 7, 2017 2:42 PM |

Winter chill to abate from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan

Last 24 hours, temperatures across most parts of Northwest India including Rajasthan and Gujarat have witnessed a declining trend. Both the states have observed the mercury settling 4 to 10 degrees below the normal. In fact, maximums have also dropped by 4-6°C across these two states.

Moreover, northern plains including Delhi- NCR, Haryana, and Punjab have also observed temperatures plummeting by 3-6°C. In fact, in a span of 24 hours, both Palam and Safdarjung observatories at Delhi recorded a drop of 5°C in the night temperatures.

As per Skymet Weather, now a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from February 7 onwards. This is likely to affect the northern hills of the country by bringing in periods of snow and rain.

Moreover, it will also influence the northern plains along with the northwest region of the country due to the change in the wind pattern. In fact, its effect has already been felt over West Rajasthan as, during last 24 hours, minimums across the region have already started increasing marginally.

Temperatures across Gujarat is also likely to witness a marginal rise. However, not much change is foreseen for other parts of northwest India like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh.
