Thundering with rain expected over Punjab, Haryana

It seems like weather gods are very happy with the North India as Punjab and Haryana are relishing good pre-Monsoon showers. Along with Punjab and Haryana, few parts of North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi are witnessing are expected to witness light rainfall activity.

At present, Chandigarh and its neighboring areas are witnessing thunder-squalls with light rain activity. The current temperature is around 23°C, with chances of good rainfall with thundering activity can the mercury is likely to plunge further. Along with Chandigarh many other nearby areas can witness good rainfall by today evening.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on March 8, Amritsar has witnessed 22 mm of rainfall; Ludhiana has witnessed 18 mm of rainfall. Scattered rain has been witnessed over Chandigarh, Ambala, Hissar, Meerut, Delhi and few areas of Pilani.

The ongoing weather activity over Punjab and North Haryana can be attributed to multiple weather systems affecting the region. The active Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir; also a feeble cyclonic circulation is seen over North Rajasthan and Punjab. And a trough is seen running from Punjab to West Bengal.

The combined effect of these weather systems will last till March 11, thereafter the Western Disturbance will move away and dry weather is expected to prevail.
