Thunderstorm activity is expected to occur over Kolkata during the next few hours. These weather conditions are attributed to a trough which is extending from North Bihar up to Chhattisgarh across Jharkhand region. Thus, moisture incursion is taking place from the Bay of Bengal which has led to cloud development over parts of West Bengal.

At present, humid conditions are persisting over the City of Joy. However, cloud development is likely to take place over Kolkata with the city receiving a few spells of thunderstorm. This weather activity will continue during the evening hours.

Thus, the Indian Premier League 2017 game between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Mumbai Indians is likely to be affected. In fact, a delay in the game looks highly likely as the drizzle continues over the city. However, it is only the toss which will be delayed and not much delay is expected.
