Winters are round the corner for Punjab and Haryana. With the states recording first spell of winter rains during the last 24 to 48 hours, winters are all set to arrive.

This time, people had to wait a little more to witness winter charm, as both these states have been experiencing above normal minimums for last one or two weeks.

Around November 8, minimum temperatures over both these states were recorded below normal by 2℃-3℃ and nights were much cooler.

There was a feeling among masses that it’s finally the time to say hi to winters. But soon after ,dry and cold north westerly winds got replaced by warm-humid easterly and south easterly winds and temperatures once again started rising.

If we see the difference between minimums of November 8 and November 14, there has been a notable rise of 5℃-6℃ in the temperatures leading to somewhat warmer nights.

During the last 24 hours , scattered rains have occurred over North Punjab and parts of Haryana leading to 2℃-3℃ drop in day temperatures.

Currently, the ongoing Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir is expected to move away and cold and dry winds from snow clad mountains Himalayas.

Consequently, day and night temperatures will fall across these states around November 16. Minimums will drop by 3℃-5℃ while maximums by 1℃-2℃ between November 16-18.

Thus, mornings and nights will become cool and light woolens will be required.
