Jharkhand has observed vigorous Monsoon rains in last 24 hours. Most parts of the state have recorded extremely heavy showers. In fact, Daltonganj has recorded a three-digit figure.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Daltonganj observed heavy showers of 142.8 mm followed by Jamshedpur that witnessed 84.4 mm sharp spells. Bokaro and Ranchi had observed 32.4 mm and 11.2 mm rainfall respectively.
As per Skymet Weather, the heavy showers over these parts of the state can be attributed to the development of a depression formed over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. This depression is further likely to move towards northwest and gradually transforming into a well-marked low-pressure area.
Further, a low-pressure area is expected to form over North Bay of Bengal around August 16.
Jharkhand has recorded moderate to heavy rainfall from past 24 hours. However, rain intensity over the state is now expected to see a decline. A significantly reduced rainfall activity is expected over the state. Mainly, light rains are a possibility over the eastern region of the states. However, light to moderate rains are expected to lash the most parts of the northwest region of Jharkhand.
At present, Jharkhand is witnessing 15 percent lesser rains as compared to its normal. However, this still is making the state to fall under normal rainfall category. Further, probability of good rains would also help in curtailing down this deficit amount and thus bringing in a slight improvement in the rain statistics for Jharkhand.
