Cyclone Hudhud in Visakhapatnam Two people have been killed as cyclone Hudhud made landfall in Visakhapatnam after hitting the coast in the morning. As per media reports, a man and a woman have been killed in separate rain-related incidents in Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Maximum sustained winds at the time of crossing was between 170 and 180 kmph, gusting to 200 kmph.

At present, the eye of storm, which has a dimension of 25 km, is crossing the coastal city of Andhra Pradesh. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the city is witnessing a temporary phase of clear weather conditions, as eye of the cyclonic storm passes through the city.

However, the situation in the city remains grim for next three to four hours. Heavy rainfall accompanied with strong winds from the opposite direction will return in another 30-40 minutes as the rear part of the cyclonic storm passes the city.

Cyclone Hudhud will return to status of CAT I storm in next 12 hours and gradually into a depression in further 12 hours.

Meanwhile, parts of northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha are experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall along with very strong winds ranging between150 and 170 kmph.
