Two low pressure areas, one close to the Tamil Nadu coast in extreme west central Bay of Bengal and the other in southeast Bay of Bengal will continue to bring rain in South India this week.
There is a possibility of both the weather systems merging and thus affecting south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, south interior and north interior Karnataka during this period.
The weather system in the southeast Bay of Bengal will continue to intensify and turn into a well marked low pressure area in the next 24 hours. It has already transformed from a cyclonic circulation to a low pressure area.
The weather system has been forecast to become a depression by 4th of December. It is likely to move in a westward direction during the next two to three days and join the depression in the west central Bay of Bengal.
The tropical weather systems like Cyclone Helen and Cyclone Lehar have helped in mitigating some of the deficit rainfall during the week from 21st to 27th November. North coastal Andhra Pradesh recorded 34. 1 mm of rain, 66 per cent more than the average of 20.5 mm for the week. Telangana received 12. 5 mm of rain against the average of 3.4 mm.
South interior Karnataka, Kerala and Marathwada have received excess rain during this period. But the regions which have remained deficient are Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, north interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema.
