Upcoming depression to give heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, parts of Andhra Pradesh, flooding in parts likely

November 9, 2021 3:30 PM |

The state of Tamil Nadu and parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh aao all set to receive some heavy to very heavy rainfall activity in the coming 24 to 48 hours.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation which had been persisting over south east Bay of Bengal and South Andaman sea, a low pressure area has finally formed over the same region. The system is expected to move in a West North West direction towards Tamilnadu region. There are highest chances of this low pressure area of becoming a depression in the next 24-36 hours.

With this weather phenomenon, heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is expected over many parts of Puducherry, Karaikal and Tamil Nadu along with some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. Flooding rains are possible in some of these areas. The city of Chennai is also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains during this period, that is on November 10 and 11.

The possibility of local inundation, and waterlogging in many cannot be ruled out during this rainfall period as the low pressure will concentrate into a depression and move closer to the coast of Tamil Nadu. The most affected areas however will be Puducherry and Karaikal.
