Uttar Pradesh Floods: Rivers in Bahraich breach banks; no relief expected

Heavy rainfall in the foothills of Nepal has been wreaking havoc over the residents of Uttar Pradesh. In fact, due to heavy rains over the region, Ghaghra river in Bahraich. In fact, two dozen villages of Mahsee and Kaisarganj Tehsil are in the grip of the flood due to the bustling Ghaghara. Not only this, water level in Sarayu river also rose above the danger levels.

In fact, residents in these areas were forced to travel from one place to another in knee deep waters. Several homes were also inundated as flood waters entered people’s houses. Traffic movement was also severely disrupted bringing normal life to standstill in many areas.

So much so that many residents took to manual methods for draining out the water from their respective homes. These flood conditions have been attributed to the axis of Monsoon trough which is running along the foothills of the Himalayas and have been giving heavy rains over Nepal.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, there will be some reduction in rains during the next two to three days. However, thereafter, the cyclonic circulation in Bay of Bengal will move towards the central parts of Uttar Pradesh and intensify resulting in moderate to heavy rainfall over many areas of Uttar Pradesh. Thus, no relief is expected from flooding conditions that are prevailing over the region.
