January 12, 2015 3:21 PM |

Cold day in Uttar PradeshExtreme cold day conditions have been prevailing across Uttar Pradesh for last couple of days. Maximum temperatures have been settling below normal by 8 to 10 degrees, exposing people to extreme cold conditions and forcing them to stay indoors.

Cold day conditions are witnessed when the maximum temperatures are recorded at 16°C or below and the departure from the normal is five degrees.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the reason behind the significant drop in maximum temperature is prolonged foggy conditions persisting in the region, which do not let adequate sunshine reach the earth.

As a result, diurnal variation of temperature in several cities has also reduced and has been between 3 to 7 degrees. Diurnal variation of temperature is the difference between the maximum and the minimum temperatures of a particular day.
