Fog in Punjab Fog in Haryana Smog in Delhi 600

On Monday morning, dense to very dense fog was observed over many parts of Northwest India including the states of Punjab and Haryana. In fact, visibility in Delhi, Agra and Chandigarh was reported nil. Similarly, even places such as Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded visibility near 50 meters.

In wake of such dense fog, all means of transport were disrupted. In fact, many flights and trains were either cancelled or delayed. Moreover, almost all the roads in Delhi-NCR region are currently traffic stricken.

At present, 50-meter visibility is being reported in the Palam region of New Delhi. Meanwhile, few other places in Northwest India such as Agra are still observing nil visibility levels.

Such dense to very dense fog has been attributed to light winds accompanied with high humidity levels and low temperatures.

However, now a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the northern hills. Therefore, further also winds will remain light and humidity will increase. Thus, dense to very dense fog is expected to cover some more parts of Punjab and Haryana.

February 5 onward, light rains are expected to commence over the northern plains. In fact, during that time, weather will clear up and by February 6 morning, improved visibility will be seen over all the places of Northwest India.
