Very Severe Cyclone Hikaa to hit Oman tonight, damaging winds, torrential rains ahead

Very Severe Cyclone Hikaa which is 220 km east southeast of Masirah and 350 east northeast of Duqm, is expected to make landfall over Oman by tonight.

The landfall will be very close to the Duqm region which is an oil refinery. Expect heavy rains and very strong winds to lash the nation as the storm makes landfall.

Moreover, as Hikaa is expected to penetrate deep into the land as a Tropical Cyclone, the effect will be devastating over many parts of the country of Oman.

Storm surge will be about 20 feet, and the sea conditions will remain very rough along the coastline resulting in more damage while the storm will pack winds winds 100-gusting up to 120 kmph.

The nation of Oman is divided into three parts, one of which is situated in the southeastern parts of Arabian Peninsula. One part of Oman is a mountainous area lying in the extreme northern parts, right next to United Arab Emirates where the capital, Muscat lies.

The official name is Sultanate of Oman. The third part is a Chain of islands called Kuria, Muria which remain uninhabited until now. The primary wealth of the country is the oil, one of the primary refineries is in Duqm, which is expected to be hit by the upcoming storm.
