summer--621x414 CroppedThe Southwest monsoon is over and we are into the first week of October, but the pleasant weather that is generally observed during this time is missing. Daytime is hot in northwest India as maximum temperature in the region is recording 2-3 degrees above normal, on an average.

Delhi in the last few days has been experiencing very warm weather with maximums settling close to 39°C. The Safdarjung Observatory recorded 38°C as the day temperature on Saturday, which is 4 degrees above normal. Neighbouring Hissar in Haryana too saw maximum settle 4 degrees above normal at 39°C.

Another state Rajasthan has also been observing similar weather conditions. The capital Jaipur saw maximum settle at 38°C on Saturday, which is 4 degrees above normal. Bikaner recorded maximum at 39°C, 2 degrees above normal

Up in the hills, Shimla is also not maintaining its normal temperatures. The maximum recorded on Saturday in this tourist location was 23°C, which is 3 degrees above normal, while the minimum settled 6 degrees above normal average at 25°C.

However, the conditions are slightly better in Punjab where the maximum temperatures are settling 1-2 degrees above normal. The day temperature in Chandigarh on Saturday was 34°C, whis is only a degree above normal. Amritsar too observed maximum settle a degree above normal at 35°C. The warm weather in northwest India is due to the dry northwesterly winds prevailing in the region.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, late night and early morning hours will however, remain cool and pleasant with minimum temperatures settling close to normal in most parts of the region. Light cool northerly winds during this time will help keep the weather pleasant.
Meanwhile, there is possibility of light isolated rain over the hills and its adjoining area in next 48 hours, due to the Western Disturbance moving in the higher reaches.
