Valentine Day Special

Valentine's Day is celebrated on 14th February every year across the world. Largely a Western tradition, the day is now celebrated in a major way in the eastern part of the world as well in countries like India and China. The day is named after a Christian martyr Saint Valentine and is celebrated to commemorate the love between companions.

Post Basant Panchami, the winters tend to take a backseat. However, this doesn’t seem to be the scene at present. Generally, the winters start fading away by the middle of February, but every time it might just not hold true. This time we are having an extended winter season. Inclement weather conditions can be seen especially over Northern and Eastern parts of Northwest Plains of the country.

Multiple weather systems will possibly cause weather activities in different parts of the country. Let us now have a look at weather conditions of some specific cities/ states.

Delhi

On the day of Valentine celebration, the national territory and its adjoining areas might witness cold day conditions. Overcast sky with intermittent rain and thundershower activities with isolated hailstorm at few places cannot be ruled out. The weather over North India is a highlight at present.

In Delhi and NCR, the day temperatures are expected to dip by 6-7°C below normal and settle in the higher teens. The minimums would be comfortable in double digits. Such a weather condition doesn’t seem to be the ideal day for celebration.

Mumbai

The weather conditions in Mumbai will be contrasting to Delhi. It is going to be hot and humid in the city. Going by the weather conditions observed in the last few days, Mumbai is seeing large variability. At present it is in a phase of hot weather condition. According to Skymet Weather, the maximums might exceed mid 30s and settle somewhere between 36°C-37°C, much above the normal mark.

Kolkata

Home to lively festivals and a vibrant artistic community, the sky in Kolkata will be clear with bright sunshine. The maximums might be around 28°C-30°C in Kolkata. The minimums will be somewhere between 15°C-16°C. The day will be pleasant, while the afternoon hours could observe hot and humid weather conditions.

Bengaluru

No major weather activity will be seen on the day of Valentine celebration. Lower clouds are a possibility during early morning hours which would pave way for good visibility. The maximums here would be touching the 30°C mark. Evenings here would be pleasant with little chill in the air. The minimums will be somewhere between 18°C-19°C.

Chennai

Chennai lies on the east coast and is much cooler than the west coast. At present, the east coast is more humid these days because of the prevailing easterlies. High humidity levels tend to absorb the day temperatures; thus, maximums would settle between 30°C-31°C. The sky would be clear with enough sunshine.

Seeing the weather conditions, both Kolkata and Bengaluru are ideal for the celebration of Valentine's Day.
