Weather forecast for the week in India 15th- 21st April

April 15, 2013 6:12 PM |

North and Northwest India
The week starts with some clouds gaining ground to stay till Wednesday in north and northwest India. There are chances of rain in these regions both at the start of the week as well as towards the end. Temperatures are expected to see a gradual rise till Saturday to drop Sunday onwards.

Two feeble Western Disturbances are expected to affect the regions during the week. One is expected to come into effect from tomorrow onwards. It has its wing's spread as a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan.

Both the Western Disturbance and the cyclonic circulation will move in tandem towards east-northeastwards thus bringing in rain with dust storms in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh mainly on Tuesday.

By Wednesday, the weather system will move on. Temperatures in Delhi could again shoot up to 39 degrees by Saturday as gradual rise is expected but Sunday will see a temporary fall in temperature.

Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have more chances of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday as at these places the weather system (WD) will be more influential. The weather will turn dry thereafter and rain will only return when the weekend approaches i.e. by Friday and Saturday.

East and Northeast India
The low pressure area that runs from Assam to central India in a northeast direction would continue to prevail throughout the week so the rain would continue over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura. In fact these parts would have more rain compared to north and northwestern parts as well as other regions of the country.

Central India
Rain is expected in central India on Friday as a trough of low pressure area is expected to form from Rajasthan to Vidarbha region in central India. Showers would be light and would fade away in a day till Saturday. The weather will be dry and rise in temperatures will be witnessed till Friday. Some parts may even record day temperatures way above 40 degrees. But rain and clouds would drop these temperatures during the weekend.

South India
Rain will continue to occur at one or two places in south Peninsula over Kerala, south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The wind discontinuity or the low pressure area that formed due to confluence of southwesterly to westerly winds from the Arabian Sea and easterly to southeasterly winds from the Arabian Sea will continue to prevail throughout the week.
