January 28, 2015 3:30 PM |

Delhi coldRain and snow is expected in the hills of North India this week. East India is going to observe light winter rain, while South India will be dry with least weather activity.

Here’s a look at the weather across the country:

Weather in North India

A Western Disturbance is expected to give rain and snow in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir from Tuesday onwards. The spell of snow will affect the temperature profile in the region. Himachal Pradesh will experience widespread rain and snow, while Jammu and Kashmir will observe light weather activity. The weather in the hills will largely remain the same as there are two feeble WDs expected within the next 8-9 days.

Moving down to the plains the minimum temperatures are expected to drop from Wednesday onwards. But by Sunday they are expected to rise again. As far as rainfall is concerned, the chances are rare. However, the beginning of the new week, i.e. by Monday or Tuesday we expect rain in the plains including Delhi as a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the region.

Weather in Central India

Central India will remain free from any weather activity till the first half of the week. Temperatures will be comfortable in most parts.

But by the end of the week a cyclonic circulation is expected to form in Gujarat and south Rajasthan which will pull down the temperatures in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Marathwada to their normal levels or marginally below the average.

Weather in East and Northeast India

Light rain is the forecast for East India during the start of the week. East Uttar Pradesh and parts of Bihar including West Bengal will be the region where light winter rain will be observed. By the middle of the week the weather will clear in East India with the rain belt shifting to Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India.
Due to rain, the first 2-3 days of the week will be free of fog in East India. But as soon as rain stops fog will make a comeback in the region.

Weather in South India

The weather in South India is going to remain the same, with least weather activity. West coast is likely to be warmer than the east coast, a usual phenomenon. The maximum temperature in west coast is likely to settle in the mid-30s, while the east coast will see the maximums hover around 30 degrees Celsius. There isn’t any forecast of rain in the region either.
