Weather System across the Country

The withdrawal line of Southwest Monsoon continues to pass from Kohima, west-central Bay of Bengal, Kalingapatnam, Nizamabad, Aurangabad and Dahanu towards the northeast Arabian sea.

The withdrawal line has covered most parts of Northeast India, northwest Bay of Bengal, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, some more parts of Marathwada and North Konkan.

The well-marked low-pressure area has now intensified into depression over west central Bay of Bengal. This system is likely to intensify into a deep-depression but for a short duration. It is likely to move northwestwards and cross Odisha coast by tonight.

The cyclonic circulation over East Central Arabian Sea and adjoining South Maharashtra and North Karnataka is now seen over South Madhya Maharashtra.

Weather Activity in last 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells were observed over Odisha, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and East Bihar.

Scattered light to moderate rain were observed over Jharkhand, West Bengal, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Karnataka and NMMT (Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura).

Isolated showers were also seen over South Interior Karnataka.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Gopalpur recorded 63 mm of rain, Chandbali 56 mm, Balasore 35 mm, Bhagalpur 39 mm, Jamshedpur 28 mm, Bankura 15 mm and Punalur 13 mm.

The maximum temperatures remained appreciably above normal over northwest India, particularly over West Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers with squally winds are likely to lash several parts of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.

Light to moderate rain with few heavy spells may occur over Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India.

Light to moderate rains are also expected over South Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Coastal Karnataka. Isolated showers also cannot be ruled out over Interior Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather will keep the weather very warm over entire Northwest and Central India. However, mercury would now drop over Odisha, West Bengal and northeastern states.

A rise in pollution levels is likely in Delhi, Chandigarh, Agra, and Jaipur.
