Weather to heat up political battle on Thursday

The run-up to the world's largest democratic exercise involving a staggering 814 million voters, so far has witnessed unparalleled political attacks and counter-attacks. On the 24th of April, 11 states and 1 Union Territory will decide the fate of the country.

The Prime Ministerial candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party, Narendra Modi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal have been trying hard too woo the people through their speeches and garner maximum votes for their parties.

Weather in India on 24th April

According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, this is the least activity period in terms of weather in India. Conditions will be mostly hot and dry except for the coastal stations.

Assam- Here 6 constituencies including Guwahati and Dhubri will go for polls on Thursday. Temperatures have been unusually high in the Northeastern states since the last 3 days and the weather is expected to remain so tomorrow as well.

In Dhubri the temperature rose from 37°C on Monday to 37.7°C the next day. Guwahati is also extremely hot with maximum settling around 39°C. Most of the stations in Northeast India will witness temperatures settling in the high-thirties. Humidity and sultry conditions remain an issue in this region.

Bihar- Number of political constituencies going to the polls in Bihar are 7 including, Purnia, Banka and Kishanganj. It’s equally hot here, especially during the polling hours with no chances of rain at all.

Chhattisgarh- Due to security issues Chhattisgarh will start early by 7 am and finish by 4 pm, leaving comfortable time for the election authorities to wind up before sunset. Bilaspur and Raipur have been extremely hot and dry with maximums around 40°C.

Jammu and Kashmir- Here Lok Sabha Elections will be held only in the commercial and financial capital of the Kashmir valley, Anantnag. Weather-wise, this is the most comfortable pocket of the country.

Jharkhand- Dhanbad, Dumka, Godda and Rajmahal will go for the polls, where weather will remain hot and dry. Tomorrow is the third and last phase of Lok Sabha election in Jharkhand.

Madhya Pradesh- Lok Sabha Elections will be held in 10 constituencies of this state including Indore, Khandwa and Ujjain. Maximums are once again high in the range of 36°C to 39°C.

Maharashtra- Here polling for the third and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held tomorrow to decide the fate of 338 candidates. Aurangabad, Thane, Mumbai and Nashik will remain veryhot with maximums touching 40°C.

Proximity to sea generally makes it uncomfortable during afternoon hours but strong breeze in the evening will bring some respite.

Puducherry- Puducherry is the only Union Territory to go to the polls tomorrow. Though, there aren't any chances of rain, conditions will remain comfortable here with maximum settling around 34°C.

Rajasthan- A cloud cover brought some respite in Rajasthan yesterday but as the clouds have moved away, it is going to heat up tomorrow.

Tamil Nadu- Elections forall the 39 constituencies will be held on Thursday. Maximums in the interiors will remain in high-thirties, while the coastal stations will be better off. Temperatures in Chennai, Pamban, and Karaikal will remain in the range of 34°C to 35°C, while Salem Trichi and Madurai will be around 39°C. Rain doesn’t seem a possibility tomorrow.

Uttar Pradesh- Most of the places including Agra, Mathura and Etawah will be hot and drywith maximums almost touching 40°C in Uttar Pradesh.

West Bengal- Elections will be held in6 parliamentary constituencies including Murshidabad, Maldaha, Balurghat and Raiganj. Maximums are around 39°C in most of the places and rain seems a distant possibility for now.
