Rajasthan

Whenever any intense Western Disturbance approaches the Western Himalayas, it usually induces a Cyclonic Circulation in Northwest Rajasthan which then gives rain in the state and the northwest plains. A similar situation is prevailing in the region at the moment.

During the last 48 hours, scattered rain and thundershowers have occurred in the northern parts of Rajasthan. Places like Sri Ganganagar, Churu, Bikaner have experienced light to moderate rain while Udaipur witnessed isolated rainfall activities. Due to these rainfall activities and overcast sky, isolated pockets of North Rajasthan are witnessing cold day conditions.

For instance, Sri Ganganagar recorded a maximum temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 9.8 degrees Celsius which shows that the variation between the day and night temperature is just 1 degree.

According to our meteorologists, we expect scattered rain and thundershower to continue in the northern parts of Rajasthan for another 24 hours. Places like Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, and Alwar may receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers. The weather will become dry from January 09 onwards.

As icy cold winds from the hills are blowing in Rajasthan, the minimum temperature will drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius in many parts of Rajasthan which will lead to winter chill once again.

Another spell of rain and thundershower are also very likely in parts of Rajasthan by January 13. Light rains are expected in places like Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, and Churu during this spell. By January 14, the weather activity will become feeble.
