Winter likely to embrace Delhi by November 23

November 20, 2015 11:00 PM |

Winter in DelhiMisty mornings have become a usual affair across Delhi-NCR since last few weeks. As day temperatures continue to take a fall, Delhiites are eagerly waiting for the trademark ‘Dilli Ki Sardi’. As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the annual wintry chill is not too far away.

As temperatures continue to plummet, Delhi will again see the rise of smog. We talked about a breathless winter in Delhi this year and everything bad that tags along with it. This has more to do with falling temperatures though. The science behind elevated pollution levels clearly points towards a tougher winter for people with breathing problems.

According to Mr. Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist at Skymet, no significant change is likely in Delhi’s weather before November 23. But the moment it snows in the hills of North India, weather conditions across the plains in the North will be affected.

This translates into chilly conditions for Delhi-NCR region. The sudden drop in temperatures is infamous for spreading allergies and infections. High pollution levels in the national capital have already led to a rise in cases of respiratory problems.

Thus it is safe to say that winter is about to embrace Delhi tightly. Allergies, common colds, gastrointestinal problems, headaches, skin problems, and other health issues are likely to pile up as winter tightens its grip over Delhi-NCR region.
