Wintry chill to abate in Rajasthan, warm weather to set in

January 31, 2017 12:42 PM |

Rajasthan winter Winters remained mild over the entire northwest plains during the month of December, however, the arrival of the year 2017 also brought the chilly and icy weather with itself. Most parts of the Northwest India particularly Rajasthan has witnessed temperatures plummeting to sub-zero levels during January.

In fact, the recent rain episode in the state also led to fall in temperatures. Within next 24 hours, temperatures, particularly over the North and Central parts of the state are expected to fall by 2-3°C. The reason for this drop in temperatures can be attributed to a feeble Western Disturbance which was over the snow-clad Western Himalayas. This weather system is likely to move away allowing cool northwesterly winds to blow over entire northwest India including Rajasthan.

Moreover, a fresh Western Disturbance is also likely to show up in the northern hills of the country on February 2. This is expected to affect the adjoining plains on February 3. Hence, then, the cool northwesterly winds will be replaced by warm south westerlies. This will result in scaling up of the minimum temperatures again by 2-4°C making the weather warm.

This weather condition is expected to continue in the state until February 5. Mornings and nights in the state are likely to remain comparatively warm.
