The year 2015 has been devastating weather wise for India. While unseasonal rains during the months of February and March caused massive crop damage, Chennai floods in November and December wreaked havoc over the residents of Tamil Nadu. Let's take a look at five extreme weather events in India, which caused massive destruction.

Unseasonal rains

During the same period, the northeastern state of Assam was battered by back to back floods. More than 15 lakh people were affected due to flooding in the state, and around 40 people were killed. Chennai Floods

Year 2015: Five Extreme Weather Events in IndiaLastly, the historic Chennai floods where record-breaking rainfall was observed. The city was left handicapped after the never-ending downpours continued to cause massive damage to the capital city of Tamil Nadu. Travel disruptions, food shortage, waterlogged roads, submerged homes, and power woes left Chennai helpless.

However, after every storm comes a rainbow, and similarly, Chennai rains have finally come to an end. As per the weathermen at Skymet, the rest of the year is likely to be free from any intense weather activity.
