Balurghat, situated in the Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal, is surrounded by numerous forests. This beautiful place is relatively clean and has several picnic spots in its vicinity. The Balurghat Museum is one of the main centers of attraction here. Other places of interest are the Bolakali Temple, TapanDighi Lake and Patiram Thakur Estate. On your visit to Balurghat, you can also go for a day trip to Khanpu, just 18 kms away. On the Balurghat-Malda Highway, in the Bolla village is situated the Bollakali Temple which is dedicated to Goddess Kali. It would be a good experience to visit the temple on a Friday after Rash Purnima, when Kali Puja is conducted in this shrine.
