Overview
Cuttack is the former capital and second largest city of the state of Odisha. Also known as the 'Millennium City' or the 'Silver City', Cuttack is famous for its unique silver filigree works (Tarakasi), and woven textiles. It is also famous for its Dussehra celebrations. Best time to visit is between November to March. Dusshera, the festival of goddess Durga, is very popular in Cuttack. Idols are adorned with huge amounts of gold and silver, with localities trying to outsmart each other by constructing more attractive idols. Katakchandi temple, Barabati fort and one of the ancient engineering marvels, the Stone Revetment are worth a visit.
