Overview
Bodh Gaya is the most important place for Buddhist pilgrimage in the world. Located in the state of Bihar, it's here that Lord Buddha attained enlightenment during intense meditation under a Bodhi tree. It attracts tens of thousands of believers from all over the world every year. Bodh gaya, 140 km from Patna, faces extreme climatic conditions. The summers are unbearably hot, winters are very cold and the monsoon season is extremely wet and rainy.

Winter season is the best time to travel to Bodh Gaya. October and March are the most pleasant months for seeing Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhi Tree, Stone railing and Ashoka Pillar.
