Jammu is the southernmost part of Jammu and Kashmir and serves as a passage from the plains in Punjab to the hills of Himalayas. Jammu is also known as the winter capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is majorly a holy city for Hindus and is home to several shrines, monuments, and temples. Some of the important places to see in Jammu include, Bahu Fort (a 300-year old fort surrounded by a beautiful terrace garden, known as the oldest fort in Jammu city), Gauri Shankar Temple, Bagh-E-Bahu (a garden from Mughal era, it is located on the banks of Tawi river), Raghunath Temple, Shiv Khori (an important cave shrine which is 150 metres long with a 4 feet svayambhu lingam) and others.
