Udaipur is amongst the most beautiful cities in Rajasthan and is therefore known as the jewel of Mewar. Located on the banks of Pichola Lake, Maharana Udai Singh established this beautiful city in 1559. Two more lakes, the Swaroop Sagar Lake and the Fateh Sagar Lake surround this city. The Aravali mountain range forms the backdrop of the city, which makes it even more enchanting. Udaipur is marked with beautiful buildings, temples and Palaces worth visiting. Moderate climate is usually observed in the city throughout the year. However, summers are hot, therefore travelling to the place during summer should be avoided.

Places to see in Udaipur
The rich history, culture and scenic locations of Udaipur are worth exploring. It is also known for its Rajput-era palaces which are of great tourist attraction. Some famous palaces are the City Palace, Lake Palace and Monsoon Palace. The City Palace, located on the east bank of lake Pichola is a massive series of palaces built at different times. The Lake Palace built in 1743 is also situated on Jag Niwas Island in Pichola Lake.
