Known as the city of lakes, Bhopal is the capital of Madhya Pradesh. It is located on the slopes of Malwa Plateau in the midst of two artificial lakes. The city is a rich amalgamation of tradition and modernity. It is also an educational hub with over 500 state government sponsored schools.
Winter season starts in December and lasts till the end of February. The weather during this period is not very cold as minimums settle around 11°C on an average, while maximums hover around 26°C. The coldest month of the season is January with average minimum settling at 10.5°C. Travelling to the city in winters should be a good idea as the temperature largely remains comfortable, allowing you to explore the city.
The summer season from March to mid June is hot with maximum temperature in the city averaging in the higher thirties, sometimes going beyond 40°C. May, with an average day temperature of 40.7°C is the hottest month of the season. Tourist activity is very limited during this period due to the hot conditions.
Monsoon season in the city is from mid June to September and heavy rain can be expected during this time. The average precipitation during this season is 902 mm, with August being the rainiest month. So there isn’t any doubt that these months should be avoided, until and unless you want to meander through waterlogged roads.

Taj-ul-Masjid, meaning Crown of Mosques is the largest mosque in the city. The Moti Masjid is another beautiful piece of Mughal architecture. Shaukat Mahal, Sadar Manzil and Gohar Mahal are some of the other tourist hot spots in the city
