Haflong is located about 84 kilometers away from Silchar and is the only hill-station in the state of Assam. The town is mainly famous for its cinematic landscapes, enchanting hills and valleys, and towering lush green mountains. Haflong is located at a height of 2300 feet above sea level and maintains a humid sub-tropical climate. The best time to visit Haflong is generally between the months of October and February. However, the hill station is fit for an all-season visit.
Winters are the best time to visit Haflong. The cold conditions in the months of October, November, December, January, and February are simply perfect for the visitors to explore the region. Minimums occasionally drop to single digit and day conditions remain calm and pleasant.
Summers in Haflong are generally hot with the maximum temperature settling between 25 and 28°C. The weather conditions during summer remain moderately hot with most of the days observing sunny skies. Summer season in Haflong lasts from April to May.
Monsoon season in Haflong lasts from June to September. Cloudy conditions with rain showers dominate most part of the day. The lush green surroundings look even more appealing during this period.

Haflong is home to a number of tourist attractions. Some of the major places to see in Haflong include Haflong Lake (famous for its scenic location and surrounding picturesque views), Maibong, Songbung Presbyterian Church, Jatinga Bird Observatory (where birdwatchers will have a gala time enjoying the wide variety of bird species), Ethnic Villages (which give an insight into the tribal and village life of Assam), Jorai, Hill View at Circuit House (perfect for photographers and wanderers), Fiangpui Church, and others.
