Heavy Rainfall Over Bihar; Rainfall Deficit To Reduce
State of Bihar is likely to come up for some heavy rainfall. The state, as such, is reeling with a large shortfall of monsoon rainfall.
The upcoming wet spell may reduce the margins of deficit and push it within the normal limits. The northern half of the state will be more vulnerable to strong and prolonged spells of rain. The foothills will bear the risk of flooding rains and localized inundation.
There are two prominent cyclonic circulations over the country controlling the weather activity. The first one, the remnant of Typhoon Whifa, is still lingering over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The other circulation has recently come up over Gangetic West Bengal. The trough line joining these two circulations is truly the seasonal monsoon trough. The eastern end of the trough is placed slightly south of its normal position because of the circulation. The oscillation of this trough and subsequent northward shift will lead to increased rainfall activity over Bihar.
The rainfall activity will be light to moderate today and tomorrow. It will start picking up intensity in some pockets on 01st August. During this phase, between 30th July and 01st August, the southern half of the state will have a bigger share of rains. The rainfall locations will include Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Bhabua, Buxar, Bhojpur, Gaya and Patna.
Rajasthan Rains: Heavy Rainfall Over Rajasthan Next Three Days
There is likelihood of ‘Break-in-Monsoon’ condition coming up shortly over the Indian region. During this, the monsoon trough has a tendency to shift closer to the foothills, all along, from Uttarakhand–West Uttar Pradesh to Sikkim–Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam Valley. This is the time when the northern half of Bihar gets ravaged with heavy rains and possible floods, as well.
During the ‘break’, heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated for the northern districts and more so, next to the foothills of the state. The places at risk will include Gopalganj, Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnea, Saran and Bhagalpur. To start with, heavy rainfall is expected between 02nd and 05th August 2025. The update will follow later. Exercise caution.
