Southwest Monsoon finally arrived in Delhi on 29th June 2025. Along with Delhi, the monsoon covered the remaining parts of the country, across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

Monsoon entered Delhi after repeated changes in timelines, from earlier-than-normal arrival to past the scheduled date. Earlier, the Southwest Monsoon had arrived on 29th June in 2017 and 2019. In the last 13 years, since 2013, the monsoon arrived in Delhi without undue delay in the month of June itself on 10 occasions. It means that the monsoon has generally been keeping its date with the national capital.

Also, this is the third occasion in the last 13 years, since 2013, that the monsoon arrived in Delhi in the last leg, along with the remaining parts of the country. Earlier, in 2013, the monsoon arrived on 16th June but unfortunately, it coincided with the disaster in Uttarakhand. Yet another incident was in 2021, when the monsoon arrived quite late on 13th July along with the left-out parts of Rajasthan and the neighbourhood.

The monsoon trough is the main trigger for fetching seasonal rains over Delhi. The trough now runs from Ganganagar in Rajasthan to Bankura in West Bengal and finally connects with the low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal. The trough is likely to keep its close proximity to Delhi for the next two days and thereafter keep oscillating north and south for the rest of the week.

Delhi and suburbs will have mostly cloudy days, light breeze, intermittent rain and thundershowers, and submissive temperatures. The high humidity will get compensated with the cloud cover and moist winds. Mercury is likely to stay in the low 30s, about 3°–4°C below the average. The intensity and spread of rainfall will be more today and tomorrow and shrink for the subsequent two days. Partly cloudy sky with comfortable evening, night and early morning, and passing rain/showers will remain the highlights of this week. July is likely to start on a rainy note and keep ushering fleeting showers through the first week.
