Dry weather to prevail in Chennai for next 48 hours

Chennai rains to continue for another 24 hours, Diwali to remain dry

The city of Chennai has been witnessing light rains from the past few days. In fact, before the arrival of the Northeast Monsoon, the capital city has remained slightly rainy all throughout the month of October. In fact, there have been just a couple of days when Chennai has recorded no rainfall while throughout the month light showers kept lashing the city.

In the last 24 hours, light rains occurred over the city of Chennai. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, the Nungambakkam observatory in Chennai recorded a mere 0.4  mm of rainfall. Whereas Meenambakkam Observatory remained rain free.

These rains can be attributed to a trough that is extending from Southeast Arabian Sea up to Southwest Bay of Bengal via Tamil Nadu.

Chennai Rains

As per weathermen, now dry spell is likely to persist over the city of Chennai and neighboring areas during the next 24-48 hours. However, Southern districts of Tamil Nadu will settle with light rains.

Maximum temperatures are anticipated to increase by a few notches. Morning and nights will remain comfortable followed by warm days.

For the month of October, the monthly average rainfall mean of Chennai stands at 147.7 mm. Until date, the city has recorded 118.7 mm of rains.
