Delhi rains to drench Saturday as well, July to end on rainy note

Rain in Delhi

After playing hide and seek, widespread Delhi rains finally made an appearance on Friday afternoon. Most parts of Delhi as well as adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram and Faridabad recorded rains of varying intensity till late night as well.

These Monsoon rains have also led to steep drop in the mercury, which is well below the normal average. This paved way for extremely pleasant weather conditions across the city.

Rains have now taken a break but some places might still see some rains.

Although heavy to very heavy rains were being predicted for Delhi on July 25-26 but speedy southward movement of axis of Monsoon trough changed the scenario and kept the Monsoon rains at bay from the national capital.

According to Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough is running south of Delhi-NCR. It is presently passing through west-central Rajasthan to Northeast India across North Madhya Pradesh.

In wake of this, humid easterly winds would continue to reach Delhi NCR. Thus, weather conditions would remain favourable for more Monsoon rains over the city during the next 24 hours.

As per weathermen, moisture content would be high and with slight increase in the temperatures, we can expect formation of thundery clouds. Thus, scattered Monsoon rains may drench Delhi-NCR again on Saturday.

Weather would remain comfortable and sky will remain cloudy throughout the day. However, rains would reduce significantly by Sunday, but isolated activity on account of Monsoon surge cannot be ruled out in few pockets.

July 28 and 29 would see mostly dry and sultry weather, as mercury would also register an increase. But Delhi rains would not disappoint us again as we may expect another spell of rains on July 30 or 31.

As the Monsoon trough would once again oscillate northwards, we can expect rains to revisit the city.
