Heavy Monsoon rains lash Chennai, more in the offingTamil Nadu rains have been almost absent for quite some time now. So much so that almost all the areas were craving for some good rains. Now, rain gods have finally answered to the prayers of the residents and good rains have made a comeback over the southern state.

Several areas in Tamil Nadu have received good rains in the last 24 hours. Heavy rains have been observed over Chennai as well. In fact, the city recorded a whopping 43.3 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am on Friday to 8:30 am Saturday.

Other areas in Tamil Nadu to have received good rains include Thiruchchirapalli at 8 mm, and Cuddalore 3 mm. These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is currently marked over the Odisha Coast adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal.

Rains have remained confined to the northern parts of Tamil Nadu. In fact, the interiors have remained mostly dry. Other parts of Peninsular India including Andhra Pradesh coast and a few areas of Interior Karnataka have also witnessed some rains.

During the next two to three days, light to moderate rains will continue over the state of Tamil Nadu. In fact, Chennai will also continue to receive some good rains. In fact, during the next 48-72 hours there may be some gradual increase in the rains.
