Mumbai rains night

Unexpected heavy to very heavy rains started lashing Mumbai and adjoining areas on Tuesday night. These showers were accompanied by squally winds, intense thunderstorms and lightning strikes. In fact, intensity of rains has been more over suburbs, which at present are witnessing very heavy rains.

According to weathermen, the cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra has now moved over Konkan & Goa region. In wake of this, massive thunder clouding developed over Mumbai and adjoining areas around 8 pm on Dussehra night. By 9:30 pm, most parts of the city including Kalyan, Thane, Badlapur and Navi Mumbai had started reporting rains.

Looking at the intense clouding, these rains and thundershowers are likely to continue for another 2-3 hours, subsiding thereafter. It may also trigger local flooding.
