Heavy rain lashes Vadodara, intensity to reduce now

July 31, 2019 6:47 PM |

Rain in Vadodara

Gujarat has been observing some good amounts of rain in the last 24 to 48 hours. During this period, moderate to heavy rains occurred at several places in the state like Naliya, Okha, and Bhuj.

Similarly, Vadodara has been recording heavy rain. In about six hours from 8.30 am today the city has recorded 64 mm of rain. This figure is only going to rise as the system responsible for rain is still expected to remain active for a while.

The rainfall activity in the city is happening due to the active monsoon surge along the west coast. There is also a Cyclonic Circulation active over Southwest Rajasthan which is aiding in the rainfall activity in the city and its adjoining areas.

However, the rainfall activity is now going to reduce in entire Gujarat including Vadodara. The weather activity will remain subdued with light rain in most parts for the next 24 to 48 hours. By August 2 or 3 Monsoon rains will again pick up pace in Gujarat with many areas likely to witness moderate amounts of rain.

So, we can say that the first week of August is going to start on a positive note for Gujarat. In view of the fresh spell from August 2 the rainfall deficiency in Gujarat is expected to come down by a good margin. It is expected that dams and other water reservoirs will be filled more than 50% of their capacity during this spell of rain.
