Monsoon rain in Bengaluru begin, rains to stay till August 15

Monsoon rain in Bengaluru has finally begun, with some parts of the city reporting good spells. In fact, rains would very soon cover most parts of the Karnataka state capital. Weathermen are predicting light rains, with few moderate spells of drench the city today. In fact, we can expect more rains on Thursday as well.

According to Skymet Weather, intense clouding can be seen engulfing entire city, with rains following soon. These rains can be attributed to the off-shore trough along the West Coast, which is particularly more active over parts of Kerala. As a result, westerly winds have been reaching over Bengaluru, making weather conditions conducive for rains.

Bengaluru weather has been recording on and off rains with few moderate rains in between for the past 10 consecutive days. So far, the city has recorded 57 mm of rains against the normal average rainfall of 147 mm.

Due to these ongoing rains, day temperatures have been settling around 27°C, paving way for extremely pleasant weather condition. Mercury would continue to hover around the same in the coming days as well.

Being on the lee side of the Western Ghats, Bengaluru falls in the rain shadow area and does not record much rain during the Monsoon. In parts 14 days, the city has witnessed only two spells of moderate rains on August 9 and August 13 to the tune of 21 mm and 19 mm, respectively.
