According to Skymet Weather, intense clouding can be seen engulfing entire city, with rains following soon. These rains can be attributed to the off-shore trough along the West Coast, which is particularly more active over parts of Kerala. As a result, westerly winds have been reaching over Bengaluru, making weather conditions conducive for rains.

Bengaluru weather has been recording on and off rains with few moderate rains in between for the past 10 consecutive days. So far, the city has recorded 57 mm of rains against the normal average rainfall of 147 mm.

Being on the lee side of the Western Ghats, Bengaluru falls in the rain shadow area and does not record much rain during the Monsoon. In parts 14 days, the city has witnessed only two spells of moderate rains on August 9 and August 13 to the tune of 21 mm and 19 mm, respectively.
