Rain in Northeast India1

Northeast India has been seeing some rains for the last 48 hours. While rains were quite isolated a day before, they did pick up pace in the last 24 hours with some showers making an appearance in some areas.

For instance, Pasighat saw 7 mm of rains, Dibrugarh 7 mm, Pet Jorhat 4 mm, Tezpur 3 mm, North Lakhimpur 3 mm, Majbat 3 mm, and Chaparmukh 2 mm.

This was due to a cyclonic circulation persisting over Assam and adjoining Bangladesh region which will see further intensification.

Moreover, for quite some time now, parts of Nagaland, Meghalaya and West Assam may also see some rainfall activities making an appearance.

The Confluence Zone which will give rains over East India will furthermore provide rainfall activity over Northeast India which will continue until March 1.

Not only this, Arunachal Pradesh may see snow and there is a possibility of some hailstorm in some areas.

While Assam will continue to see rains of varied intensity until February 28, Arunachal Pradesh will also see rainfall activity until then.

On the other hand, Nagaland rains will begin today and continue until February 27, intensity peaking on February 27. Meghalaya will continue seeing some rains until March 1 wherein rains will be on the higher side between February 25 and 27.
