As predicted by Skymet Weather, during the last 24 hours, fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers with few heavy showers were witnessed in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Few higher reaches of these states also observed snowfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Banihal recorded 23 mm of rain, followed by Jammu 22 mm, Gulmarg 12 mm, Dharamshala 10 mm, Nahan 10 mm, Shimla 10 mm, Manali 8 mm, Srinagar 7 mm, Qazi Gund 6 mm, Tehri 6 mm, Dehradun and Sundernagar 3 mm.

In the wake of widespread weather activities, day temperatures dropped significantly over most places by 8˚C to 10˚C. Yesterday, Shimla recorded its maximum temperature at 15.3˚C, followed by Srinagar 16.0˚C, Mukteshwar 18.7˚C, Manali 19˚C and Tehri 19.7˚C.

These rains occurred in association with the Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. However, now gradually this weather system will be moving away eastwards. Therefore, rains will also reduce.

Today, we expect rain and thundershower activities to continue in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand with reduced intensity.

Light to moderate rains will continue over Places such as Banihal, Jammu, Katra, Gulmarg, Leh, Pahalgam, Qazigund, Srinagar, Bilaspur, Dharamshala, Kullu, Manali, Shimla, Una, Almora, Dehradun, Haridwar, Mussoorie, Nainital, Pithoragarh and Tehri.

From April 18, rains will start vacating the hills of North India and by April 19, weather conditions over the region will become almost dry resulting in rising day temperatures.
