Skymet Weather’s initiative #HelpTheFarmer has been awarded the prestigious ‘Silver Award’ in the ‘Cinema of the Sellers’ category at the 6th Jagran Film Festival Awards in Mumbai.

Fevikwik’s “Parade Campaign’ grabbed the ‘Gold Award’, and Sony Max Pepsi IPL 2015’s “India Ka Tyohaar” fetched the ‘Bronze Award’ for this category.

#HelpTheFarmer initiative was launched with the purpose of shedding light on the plight of farmers in the country. A largely agrarian economy, India heavily depends on its farmers. But every year, extreme weather conditions and other socio-economic factors lead to hundreds of farmer suicides in the country. Skymet Weather partnered with RK Swamy BBDO with the hope of creating something which would travel the distance. Something which would set effectual change into motion. Thus, #HelpTheFarmer was born.

In several ways, the initiative was highly successful in the digital world. The campaign video went viral over the internet within a few hours. On Twitter, #HelpTheFarmer trended at No. 1 in India for more than six hours. Netizens discussed the role, importance, and misery of Indian farmers at length. Several digital publications shared the video and extended their support for the initiative. Outside the digital sphere, the effort changed perceptions and outlined the importance of the Indian farmer.

Now that #HelpTheFarmer has entered its second phase, we must thank everyone for doing their bit to make it a meaningful initiative. The initiative’s initial as well as eventual success will always be credited to the people who took cognizance of the issue and spread the word about it. We thank you all for making #HelpTheFarmer a national call for the betterment and welfare of farmers in India.
