Comet October and the beer lovers across the world descend upon Munich in Germany to celebrate the famous Oktoberfest. The beer and pretzel laden festival is held annually in Munich, Bavaria in Germany. Running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, this beer and travelling funfair is attended by more than 6 million people every year.
This Volksfest dates back to the 1810 and forms a pivotal part of the Bavarian culture. It all began when Crown Prince Ludwig invited all the citizens of Munich to celebrate his nuptial bliss with Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The celebrations were held outside the city gates, on a field now named Theresienwiese. Thereafter, the Oktoberfest became a customary annual celebration in the German culture.
Over the years, several other places across the world have also began treading on the similar path, celebrating Oktoberfest modelled after the original Munich event.
Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada

The world's second-largest Oktoberfest is held in the twin cities of Kitchener-Waterloo in the state of Ontario in Canada.
