Much of Britain will experience the wintry chill due to strong winds from the Arctic. It will possibly be a mild but stormy start to the week with coastal and adjoining areas witnessing heavy shower and gusts.
According to weather experts, this is due to a change in wind direction by a deep area of low pressure persisting over the north of the United Kingdom.
Moreover, southerly winds that were responsible for temperatures of 15 °C at the start of the week will be pushed away by strong Arctic winds later on Wednesday into Thursday.
As polar air will sweep across much of the country by the weekend, it will turn colder again with possibilities of a few snow showers in lower regions from Wednesday onward. Temperatures are expected to hit -11 °C over higher reaches overnight in Scotland by the weekend with lows of -8 °C around the region.
In rest of the country, the mercury will plunge to -1 °C with much of southern England hovering around freezing. Weathermen predict mild and cloudy conditions with few episodes of showers possibly on Wednesday across the far south before cold polar air sweep across all areas for the rest of the week.
