Say goodbye to flaky skin; go smooth sailing this spring

The winter season definitely is the time for food, warmth of a near one, touch of a friendly hand and a talk beside the fire.  But the wrath of winter cannot be ignored altogether. The harsh winter must have taken a toll on your beauty regime. Dry and chilly whipping winds outside and heating indoors must have ruined the texture of your hair, stripped moisture from the strands and made your skin patchy and dry.

Our skin and hair have numerous roles to play in bodily functions other than just sitting at their place, looking pretty. Skin acts as a barrier against the environment and germs. It is responsible for keeping our body cool, healthy and strong. So here are few tips to cure scaly, itchy skin and get back that lustrous healthy mane adding glory to your crown.

Skin Care

You can whip a banana shake and apply all over your body to bring back suppleness. In fact, most of the all-season ripe fruits including papaya, apple, strawberries and the like are good for our skin.

Hair Care

For shoulder length hair, take two ripe bananas and add 4 tablespoons of honey in it. You can add some water to get perfect consistency and put it in your hair from the scalp to the ends. Put a shower cap and leave it on for an hour. Wash it off with a mild shampoo and follow it with a conditioner. You can use a broad bristle comb too while washing your hair to remove the left overs.

Olive Oil

Popeye's Olive always makes me think that she is so true to her name. I wonder if her long black hair, usually rolled in a neat bun, is the result of religious olive oil massage. Keeping aside if’s and but’s, we all know that a hot olive oil massage is the best way to replenish skin and hair. Alternatively, you can mix a few drops of olive and grape seed oil in your bathwater and just hop in.

Yoghurt

Skin care always does not involve a trip to the salon. Just rummage through your kitchen and you can whip some face masks.

Take some yogurt and mix it with lemon juice. Apply the pack evenly on your face and relax. Yoghurt is a good resort to treat pigmentation. Give the expensive fairness creams a miss and save a lot of money.

Now that the winter in India is slowly bidding us farewell, you cannot lay back thinking glorious days will be back soon without much effort. You no longer need to endure those cracked hands and itchy skin. Few wonder items lying back in the closet of your kitchen could just be the answer.
