Below Normal Temperature For Delhi: No Rains Likely In October
Delhi started October on a wet note. The capital city quickly achieved its normal rainfall right at the start of the month, accumulating about 90 mm of rain in the first week itself. Dry weather conditions prevailed thereafter, and rains are unlikely in the days to come. Temperatures, however, have persistently remained below normal. Most observatories in Delhi-NCR have recorded minimums below 20°C for the past 4–5 days. The base station Safdarjung recorded a low of 19°C this morning. Earlier, the observatory had recorded 18.8°C on October 10 — the lowest so far after the spring season in March 2025.
After the withdrawal of the monsoon, Delhi generally experiences fair weather conditions, and October remains largely dry. Typically, the city registers sub-20°C temperatures in October, with the lowest readings arriving in the second half of the month — often at the very end. Last year was an exception when the minimum of 17.4°C was recorded on October 15.

All minimum temperatures ≤15°C were recorded between October 25 and 31. The lowest of 12.5°C in 2020 was measured on October 29. An all-time low of 9.4°C was recorded on October 31, 1937.
No active western disturbance is expected over the plains of North India. A fair amount of sunshine is likely to prevail over the Delhi region for the next several days. Pleasantly warm days and cool, cozy nights are expected. As per historical trends, mercury levels will likely dip to the mid-teens in the second half of the month. The typical winter chill is expected to arrive in the last week of October.
